Anyone can experience muscle sores especially those who are not physically active. Like me, I don’t usually exercise but with my condition, I was asked to go to the gym and hire a personal trainer to strengthen my back. The usual stretching was first done to flex my sleeping muscles then followed by a thirty minutes treadmill walking. After that, honestly, I didn’t felt good. My muscles hurt like hell, maybe because it was stretched to its limit. Though it’s really hard to move, I was told to get rid of the pain faster is to keep on moving and stretching my muscles to get used to it.  And to my surprise, it did work. However, there are other ways to help sooth the pain and get rid of muscle pain after workout.

Muscle soreness usually heals gradually after 2 or 3 days. Depending on the intense of the workout, it may heal faster or maybe longer.

Temporary Relief of Muscle Sore and Pain

Over the counter pain killers. This will help lessen and eventually get rid of the pain. But before buying any pain killers, it is still best to consult your doctor for proper dosage intake.

Its methyl salicylate, menthol, and other soothing components will relieve the pain temporarily. After taking a bath, make sure to dry your skin before applying the patch, otherwise it wont stick on your skin. Leave it there for 8 hours and repeat application if necessary.

Therapeutic massage. A massage can help lessen the pain and calm your aching muscles.

Relax. If the cause of your muscle pain is due to other activity or minor accident. The best way to get rid of the pain is to relax. Give your muscles time to heal by it self.

Stretching. Before engaging to any physical activity, it is best to do 10 – 15 minutes stretching. This will condition your muscles prior to working out. Doing so, will lower the chance of getting muscle pain, unless you have done a wrong move.

Take one step at a time. If you are just starting to work out, it is best to start low then gradually increase your intensity workout. That goes with weights, treadmill, and like. If you push yourself too much, chances are, you’ll end up in the hospital.

Warming down. Just like when you are preparing for work out, you do a little bit of stretching. That goes the same thing when you are about to be done working out. With running, if you have been on the treadmill running for hours, it is not advisable to hit the stop button at once. If you do this, you will feel dizzy and might collapse. What you have to do is gradually decrease the speed until you are just walking.

Above are just some prevention and tips on how to temporarily get rid of ordinary sore muscles. Though there are different types of muscle sores, treatment and medication may vary. It is still best to consult your doctor if these simple remedies don’t work.
